Do you have persisting pain that restricts your life right now?

Are you open to trying something new?

Are you ready to explore and change areas of your life that keep you stuck in your pain cycle?

Are you someone who enjoys being in a small group of people and helping contribute to other's healing as well as your own?

If the answer is yes to one of these questions,  then this may be the right course for you.

Who is it for?

This course is for people with persisting pain so that you can reconnect to your body and bring a whole life approach to managing your pain.

Maybe you are someone who has pain for a while and has tried lots of different therapies and pain services?

You may have been told that there is nothing else that can be done to help you?

It is common to feel that you want to do something to change how things are but you don’t know what to do or how to get going.

As pain persists it can start to affect you life and wellbeing in general- areas such as sleep, mood, digestion, confidence and the feeling like you are getting the most from life.

What is it?

This course is a 6 week in person Yoga course taught by myself, Lin Leong, a Chartered Physiotherapist. It runs for 1 hour a week over 6 weeks with learning, support and accountability provided in between.

It uses a trauma informed approach to looking at and learning about pain in a holistic and compassionate way.

The course includes learning around pain science, body and mind techniques such as yoga poses, breathing exercises, meditation type practices and relaxation techniques that help with pain and stress.

  • You will have six 1 hour group sessions that include education, learning as well as guided movement, breath and awareness practices.
  • You will receive weekly videos or audios to support and continue the learning from the classes.
  • You will receive weekly videos or audios of the practices we do in class.
  • The audio/videos remain yours to keep and follow once the course finishes.
  • You will receive support and accountability via a what’s app group in between each class.

What you will gain.

An understanding of how our body relationship affects our wellbeing and you will learn ways to strengthen the mind in body connection.

You will learn and practice skills and techniques to help understand your pain and to find more ease in the body.

You will learn practices which help to regulate the nervous system and which can help in pain care and wellbeing.

You will develop an understanding in the wider aspects of pain management.

You will be supported and guided to make sustainable changes to your lifestyle and mindset with regards to your pain.

You will learn and practice skills that can reduce the impact of pain on your life and increase your confidence in knowing what to do to best manage your pain.

The learning and techniques can help your wellbeing, help you feel more connected and positive and even bring more happiness and joy to your life.

You will be provided with a friendly, non judgemental and supportive environment.

Who am I to teach this course?

I wanted to create a course that focusses on pain care because over the years the people I have worked with have had such positive changes to their pain. With over 20 years of experience as a Physiotherapist and over a decade teaching Yoga I have many years experience working with different people with complex long term conditions, pain and disability.

This combination of Physiotherapy and Yoga gives a powerful and potentially life changing approach of traditional Yoga practices and modern evidence based approaches. I am passionate about sharing the practices of Yoga and that this can be experienced by all people; that having pain, disability or changes in health does not restrict a person from finding benefit.

I am dedicated to maintaining and growing my knowledge and expertise. Courses that I have recently completed include Pain Science and Education, Movement Science, Adaptive Yoga, and Trauma informed Yoga. I bring all this learning and experience to my work and to this course.

I thrive in working in small groups and I am told that my groups and classes are a friendly, non judgmental and enjoyable place to be. Bringing humour and lightness to the work we do means that people look forward to their sessions and can even feel that they are a highlight of the week.
